The Dubuque City Council will hear a rezoning request at its meeting Monday that would pave the way for a five-story commercial and residential
development in the footprint of a longtime Dubuque restaurant.
The proposal calls for the rezoning of The Bridge Restaurant & Lounge property at 35 Locust St. and a small adjacent property from C-3 general
commercial to C-4 downtown commercial.
The applicant, Josh Jansen, of Restoration and Renovation Services, LLC, is seeking a downtown commercial designation for a potential mixed-use
commercial and residential property. The proposed redevelopment would include commercial space and parking at ground level, with 81 residential units on the four stories above.

Converting a former Potosi, Wis., bank into an addition to an approximately 175-year-old saloon provided a series of history lessons to Jane Tennessen.
“Redoing that bank was amazing, just to learn how well things were built back in the day,” Tennessen said. “We started taking walls down and I said
to my dad, ‘There’s brick underneath here. It’s three or four layers thick of brick.’”
Tennessen, 47, is the owner and operator of The Original Potosi Brewery Saloon. She purchased the saloon in 2017 after leasing it for three years.
